The Seasons of Our Mountains calendar is a collaboration between Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice and the Evergreen Camera Club.
Want to be in print? Here’s a chance. This calendar contest has been dominated by the Evergreen Camera club primarily due to the location where the photos are to be taken (see below). If you have images from these areas, consider submitting them. You might get printed in a calendar! This contest was shared by new LTPC member Ann Zimmerman (thank you Ann!)
The submission window for the calendar typically opens in early May. Since you are already active in the photography community, keep an eye on the Evergreen Camera Club’s website as May approaches for the calendar contest live entry form. Based on the current guidelines, submit your images:
Submission Timeline & Process
Submission Window: The contest usually opens in early May (e.g., May 6) and closes in early June (e.g., June 6).
How to Enter: You can submit your photographs digitally through the Evergreen Camera Club website or the Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice website.
Selection: The 25 best photos advance to a community vote in July. The top 13 images are featured as the cover and monthly leads, while the next 12 are included as honorable mentions.
Entry Guidelines
Quantity: You may submit up to three (3) digital, color photos.
Subject Matter: Local wildlife, nature, or scenery. No humans should be visible in the photos.
Location: Photos must be taken within Mount Evans’ service area, which includes the mountain communities of Clear Creek, Gilpin, Jefferson, and Park counties.
Originality: Photos must have been taken by you within the past three (3) years.
Technical Requirements
Format: High-resolution JPG files.
Orientation: Horizontal (Landscape) ONLY. Vertical photos will be disqualified.
Resolution: Minimum of 2400 pixels on the long edge (3000px is preferred). The final print size is 12″ x 9″, which is a 4:3 aspect ratio; if your photo isn’t cropped this way, the committee will crop it for you.
No Watermarks: All voting is anonymous, so do not include watermarks, signatures, or date stamps on the image.
Pro-Tips for Your Submission
Seek Seasonal Balance: Spring and Summer photos are the most common submissions. You may have a better chance of being selected if you submit high-quality Fall or Winter scenes.
Avoid Clichés: The Evergreen Lake House is the most frequently submitted subject. Unless you have a truly unique perspective on it, consider other local scenic spots to stand out.
Judicious Editing: Avoid over-saturation or heavy manipulation; the judges look for natural-looking images.
