About Ken Imler:
“I have been taking photographs for nearly 50 years. I started out with a Pentax Spotmatic 1000 35 mm film camera which my father in law gave to me. I started me taking pictures and from there I began to learn about taking images, not just pictures.
I was fortunate in that I started traveling the world with my job and I got to spend extra time before and after business taking images. I have always been fascinated by National Geographic and strive to match their quality and imagination. I have been on a few of their photo workshop expeditions.
I have gotten to spend time in Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand and North America following my dream of capturing images that show nature’s great bounty and diversity.
Since starting these adventures, I have become more and more aware of not only how to shoot, but what and why to shoot. I have published pictures in Nature and Photography magazines and published an article last year on the Migration of the Wildebeest across the Serengeti and Maasai Mara in Wildlife Photographic Magazine Issue 33. I have also provided images used by a big cat conservation group.
Over the past 10 years I have traveled to Africa several times, most recently this March leading a group of six photographers on a photo-safari to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. In addition to Botswana, I have done photo-safaris in South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
My pictures have been in several juried shows and have won awards in Pennsylvania, Indiana and Colorado. I have created photo-journals for the participants on my photo-safaris. View my work at Ken Imler – Fine Art.”
